On May 19, Hisense Group formally signed a Strategic Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Dili, the capital city of Timor-Leste. Focusing on priority sectors including smart energy, smart home, digital education, automotive electronics and smart transportation, the two sides will accelerate the in-depth integration of Hisense's advanced technological achievements with practical application scenarios, and support Timor-Leste in enhancing its urban governance capacity and public service standards. Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, Vice Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, and Jia Shaoqian, Chairman of Hisense Group, jointly attended the signing ceremony.

Located at the easternmost tip of the Indonesian archipelago, Timor-Leste is one of the youngest countries in Asia. It officially joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as its 11th member in October 2025. As an important emerging market in Southeast Asia, Timor-Leste is pressing ahead with its economic diversification and modernization drive. During his visit to China to attend the 3rd High-Level Meeting of the Global Development Initiative Forum in April this year, Vice Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay led a delegation on a special visit to Hisense, where the two sides reached in-depth consensus on strengthening business exchanges and practical cooperation.

The signing of this strategic MoU represents a tangible implementation of the consensus reached earlier. It not only establishes an efficient platform for enterprises of the two countries to deepen economic and trade ties, but also further strengthens the friendship between China and Timor-Leste and elevates their common development to a higher level. On May 20, Chairman Jia Shaoqian was invited to attend Timor-Leste's National Day celebrations and the ground-breaking ceremony for the International Conference Center, a testament to the close partnership Hisense has forged in local cooperation.
In recent days, both Indonesia and Timor-Leste have selected Hisense as a key partner for the implementation of their national development strategies. This fully demonstrates their high recognition of Hisense's capabilities in technological innovation, industrial layout, brand philosophy and long-term strategic planning, and also accelerates Hisense's all-round in-depth development in the ASEAN market.

As a core strategic region of the Group, ASEAN has become one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic core regions in Hisense's global strategy. Over the past three years, Hisense has posted a compound growth rate of 18.7 percent in the ASEAN region, with its branded business achieving a compound growth of 27.4 percent. In the first four months of 2026, the company's branded business in ASEAN surged by 37.7 percent. Backed by its strengths in localized operations covering research and development (R&D), manufacturing, sales and services, Hisense has secured continuous breakthroughs in ASEAN markets including Thailand, Viet Nam, Malaysia and Indonesia, with its brand influence and market share rising steadily.
This strategic cooperation with Timor-Leste marks another important milestone for Hisense in deepening the ASEAN market and advancing its global development. Going forward, Hisense will continue to deliver cutting-edge technologies, high-quality products and integrated solutions, steadily promote the implementation of cooperation projects under the strategic frameworks with Indonesia, Timor-Leste and other partners, and strive for mutual benefit and win-win results. The two sides will jointly write a new chapter of digitalization and sustainable development, and make greater contributions to promoting regional economic development and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
